Objectives
The Vascular Conference is a joint scientific meeting of the Military and Chesapeake
Vascular Society membership. Educational discussions occur over the seminar period
with specific technology briefs, and therapeutic updates as seen in the prior meeting
agendas on the SMVS website. (
http://www.trueresearch.org/smvs/) The intention is
that the society can standardize the best medical & surgical practices within the Department
of Defense. Overall objectives:
- Discuss current trends in the treatment of vascular disease and injury.

Exchange essential information to deploying military vascular surgeons regarding
management updates, and timely analysis of lessons learned that directly translate
into combat casualty care improvements.

Serve as the primary forum for the Vascular Surgery Consultant and the 61W branch
manager to meet with individual surgeons for career management needs.

Discuss the best business processes for military vascular surgical practices, specifically
coding, quality improvement and access to care.

Expose general surgery residents to vascular surgery across the military, meet military
vascular surgeons and gain information about vascular surgical opportunities in
the Army.

not pre-registered or on the attendee list will not be allowed to enter. Representative

General Information
Gate Entrance
Please use the main gate of the National Naval Medical Center on Wisconsin Ave. (located
on same campus as USUHS)
All non-military and guests of the event must register
so they are on the SMVS attendee roster. Those not on the SMVS attendee roster will
not be able to enter the campus.
Parking
Military, anywhere on the Medical Center. Non-military and guests can park on level (2) of the
parking lot garage under USUHS. There is no charge for parking.
Dress Code at the Conference
Military Dress is Class "A." Civilian attire is suit and tie.
