For 2008, the winner of the military paper competition will be given a scholarship to attend and present their paper as the Norman M. Rich Military Vascular Surgery Presentation at the spring meeting of the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society.
Gate Entrance
Please use the main gate of the National Naval Medical Center on Wisconsin Ave. (located
on same campus as USUHS) All non-military and guests of the event must register
so they are on the SMVS attendee roster. Those not on the SMVS attendee roster will
not be allowed to enter the event.
Parking
Military, anywhere on-base. Non-military and guests can park on level (2) of the
parking lot garage under USUHS. There is no charge for parking.
Dress Code (Conference)
Military Dress is Class "A." Civilian attire is suit and tie.

Dear Colleague:
The 36th Annual Meeting of the Society for Military Vascular Surgeons in conjunction
with the winter meeting of the Chesapeake Vascular Society will be held 04 December
– 06 December 2008 in the Jay P. Sanford Auditorium of the Uniformed Services University
of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. We are looking forward to another
great meeting, full of lively discussions and interesting presentations.
The Annual Resident Paper Competition will be held and prizes will be awarded to
the three best papers. The Annual Working Dinner for the Military will be held at
the Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Maryland on Thursday evening. We will
continue to collaborate with the Chesapeake Vascular Society session on Friday afternoon
and the Chesapeake Vascular Dinner on Friday evening, also at the Columbia Country
Club. The program will adjourn around noon on Saturday. Approximately 15-20 hrs
of Continuing Medical Education has been awarded in past meetings.
Membership Dues:
All participants and Society members should send their annual dues for The Society
for Military Vascular Surgeons in the amount of $100.00. (Residents- $25.00). Membership
dues include the working dinner on Thursday evening as well as breakfast and lunch
breaks on Thursday and Friday.
On-Line Registration:
You must register on-line at our secure web site:
www.trueresearch.org/smvs/2008 You are encouraged to pay your annual membership
dues on-line by credit card. The SMVS membership is also invited to attend the CVS
dinner banquet. The cost of the reception and CVS dinner on Friday is $47.00. This
can also be paid online at the time of registration.
Abstracts For SMVS & CVS
Abstracts should be submitted
NLT 15 October 2008.
Please submit them using the electronic on-line submission form. For research projects
or interesting and spectacular cases, a presentation title, brief synopsis, and
the speaker name will appear in the program booklet. Resident and fellows submitting
work will be entered into the resident and fellow paper competition for the SMVS
or CVS general sessions.
Forms:
The Continuing Medical Education Office requires all speakers to complete the following
forms: (1) Biographic Data Form; (2) Financial Disclosure; and (3) Presentation
Worksheet. You can access these forms on our web site. Download the forms
(they
must be typed) and return them by e-mail to

Lodging:
The Navy Lodge is located on the campus of the National Naval Medical Center and is walking
