CONFERENCE OVERVIEW
The Society of US Army Flight Surgeons and the University of Texas Medical
Branch Aerospace Medicine Residency are proud to return this year in
partnership with the TRUE Research Foundation to provide the 2nd Annual MICE
conference. This conference includes the Pushing the Envelope VIII, 27th Annual
Army Operational Aeromedical Problems Course (OAP) and the US Coast Guard
Operational Aermedical Problems Course (OAP)!!!
This unique conference is designed for physicians and health professionals
interested in the practice of medicine in unusual, exotic and/or dangerous
environments. Speakers at the conference will include top experts in the fields
of space, aviation, extreme sports, WMD, undersea, military, motorsport,
mountaineering, and diving medicine.
This year's conference will be held at Moody Gardens Hotel and Conference
Center in Galveston, Texas.
CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES:

Become familiar with new Aeromedical policies and updates and how they apply to
the deployed environment

Describe key medical knowledge for practicing in several challenging
environments and the impact of telemedicine in these environments.

Understand recent medical research from the aviation, space, motorsport,
undersea, high altitude and other challenging medical environments.
This Conference is approved for ABPM
Maintence of Certification for Aerospace Medicine Specialists.
The American Board of Preventive Medicine's Enhancing Professional Improvement
and Quality� (EPIQ�) program leads to renewal of certification every ten years.
The Lifelong Learning and Self-assessment component is satisfied by completing
100 hours of educational modules or approved specialty society courses/sessions
and requires that each diplomat register with the Board and maintain a record
of the completion of each module or course. Portions of Medicine in Challenging
Environments will be approved for Lifelong Learning Credit for the ABPM.
Continuing Medical Education Credits (CME)
The U.S. Army Medical Command is accredited by the Accreditation Council for
Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for
physicians. The U.S. Army Medical Command will designate this educational activity for a maximum of approximately 28 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. (final determination yet to be made) Each physician should
claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity. A
conference evaluation must be completed online at the conclusion of the
conference. CME certificates will be provided online upon completion of this
evaluation.
