EMT-T Course Description
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Department of Homeland Security,
and the U.S. Park Police, in cooperation with the TRUE Research Foundation for the
Advancement of Military Medicine, are pleased to announce the return of the Counter
Narcotics and Terrorism Operational Medical Support (CONTOMS) Program. For nearly
20 years, CONTOMS has provided nationally-recognized, evidence-based courses in
tactical medical support of law enforcement and military operations. CONTOMS is
dedicated to providing a solid foundation of knowledge and skill for tactical medical
providers supporting local, state, and federal missions.
Course Overview
This basic EMT-Tactical program is a 56-hour course that provides
a foundation for medical personnel providing support to special
response teams. The basic school integrates didactic, practical and field exercises
to provide the student with the essentials of Tactical Emergency Medical Support
(TEMS). Successful completion of this course results in certification of special
competence. Course topics include:

Patient extraction and medical care in the tactical environment

Forensic evidence collection

Medical Threat Assessment and medical intelligence

Wounding effects of weapons and booby traps

Special equipment for medical support

Preventive medicine to ensure the health of your unit

Prerequisites and Requirements:

Student Selection
Due to the completive nature of admission to this school, submission of all application
materials does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Qualified students who
meet submission criteria and who are selected for seating in the school will be
notified of acceptance directly by email.
Course Fee
$860.00. Credit cards are the preferred mode of payment; the credit card will not
be charged unless the applicant is accepted into the school. Alternatively, checks
or official agency purchase orders for the total amount should be mailed and made
payable to True Research Foundation. Checks and purchase orders will be returned
if an applicant is not selected for training. If intending to pay by check or purchase
order, your application will not be considered complete until the payment is received
by mail.
Lodging and Meals
Lodging and meals for the school is not covered in the course fee.

Uniforms
Each student is required to wear the tactical uniform of his/her department. If
your department does not have a tactical uniform, then standard military camouflage
fatigues, combat boots and rain gear are recommended. Students will receive additional
information upon selection for training.
Refund Policy
Admission to this school is competitive. Cancellations and refund requests must
be received within seven (7) days of notification of acceptance. Cancellations received
after this deadline may not qualify for a refund.
Fitness Note
This training program requires strenuous physical activity, especially during the
field exercises. Applicants who are not in excellent physical condition and who
do not participate in a regular physical conditioning program should seek the approval
of their physician before applying for this school.
